Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage from prolonged high blood sugar, most often felt as numbness, tingling, or burning in the feet — and it's often silent until nerve damage is advanced, which is why objective testing alongside symptom questions matters.

Symptoms

  • Numbness or reduced sensation in the feet or hands
  • Tingling or a burning sensation
  • Sharp, stabbing pain, often worse at night
  • Loss of balance or coordination
  • Reduced ability to feel injuries on the feet

Can diabetic neuropathy be reversed?
