Insulin therapy
Insulin therapy replaces or supplements the body's own insulin, using one or more insulin types individualized to a patient's glucose patterns and lifestyle.
Who it’s for
All patients with type 1 diabetes from diagnosis, and patients with type 2 or other forms of diabetes whose blood glucose isn't adequately managed with other therapies alone.
What to expect
Your care team works with you on the type, dose, and timing of insulin, along with training on administration and glucose monitoring. Regimens are adjusted over time based on your glucose patterns.
Evidence basis
Insulin therapy is a foundational, guideline-recommended treatment for diabetes where indicated, with regimens individualized per current ADA Standards of Care.
