GLP-1 based therapy (semaglutide/tirzepatide)
GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy uses molecules such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, available as injectable or oral formulations, to help manage type 2 diabetes and, in some cases, weight.
Who it’s for
Patients with type 2 diabetes, and in some cases patients being evaluated for medical weight management — always via individualized, prescription-only assessment, never as a blanket recommendation.

Evidence basis
Semaglutide is marketed in India as Ozempic (type 2 diabetes) and, where available, Wegovy (chronic weight management) and Rybelsus (oral); generic semaglutide is also produced by DCGI-approved Indian manufacturers following the molecule's patent expiry. Tirzepatide is marketed in India as Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. Brand names are noted here for patient recognition only, not as an endorsement of a specific manufacturer — regulatory approval status should be re-verified before publishing, since it continues to evolve.
